About Pack 1

Pack 1 is a Cub Scout pack in Acton, MA. Cub Scouting is for boys in grades 1 through 5.  We are part of the Massasoit District in the Nashua Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America. You can find out more about the many benefits of the Cub Scout program on the About Cub Scouts page.

We are fortunate to have many experienced leaders. Our leaders are very dedicated to making scouting a fun, educational, and rewarding experience for your son and your family. Our pack stresses qualities such as respect, honesty, and camaraderie.

Meetings & Events

A Cub Scout belongs to a pack (in our case, Pack 1), which is divided up into dens based on grade level:

First grade: Tiger Scouts
Second grade: Wolves
Third grade: Bears
Fourth grade: Webelo I
Fifth grade: Webelo II

The whole pack meets once a month on the second Friday night from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church. (Directions and a link to a Google map are on this page.) Our dens typically meet two times per month in scouts’ homes or for field trips. Check the pack meeting schedule and your appropriate den page (see links above) for more information. The pack also hosts special events during the year such as indoor overnights, camping trips, “engineering” events (such as the rocket launch and pinewood derby), and so on.

Note that Cub Scouting is a family program and many dens require parents to plan and run meetings. Check with your den leader for more information. While our focus is on providing a fulfilling scouting experience for our boys, we also offer many family-oriented events as well, such as family campouts and outings. You can get an overview of all the meetings and events for the pack on the pack calendar.

Interested in Joining?

If you’re interested in having your son join our pack, please contact us by e-mail. You must fill out a Boy Scouts of American Youth Application.

Finances

The yearly dues for Cub Scouts is $10 + $12 for a subscription to Boys’ Life magazine.

The pack does not have additional dues; all of our funding comes from our one fundraiser a year, the popcorn sale. Money from the popcorn sale is used to purchase den and pack meeting materials, badges and awards, and to supplement the costs to scouts for outings and campouts.

Scouts are required to have a uniform and a handbook appropriate for their rank. We do recycle these items which can keep the cost down if we have items available. (See the Uniform Shopping List page for more information.)

Pack Leadership

Every parent is asked to take on a role in the pack. See the Resources for Parents page for more information on role descriptions and current assignments.
